Last year for my son Aidan's 2nd birthday, I put together a "farmyard" theme party for him.

I designed the invitation myself (I bought the farm image from iStock photoby Flint Media creative agency and had them printed at my local Kwik Kopy.

Unfortunately it rained on the day, but luckily my Dad owns a marquee and we were able to put it up. I set up the marquee as a barn with hay bales all around the perimeter, and I painted up a mock barn door. I set up various farm activities for the kids around the barn including: hunting for eggs in the hay, catching rubber ducks in the pond (blow up pool) with a net, a reading corner on the hay bales with farm stories, a corner with toy farm animals and farm machinery to play with. I organised for Animals on the Move to bring along their baby animal farm for the kids to pat, hold, feed & play with the animals. A big hit with the kids... and parents!

For the kids table I designed and printed personalised placemats for each of the children and laminated them. The kids were able to take these home at the end of the day. I also found cute farm serviettes and party whistles that matched my printables.

My wonderful cousin Rhonda Murrin made an amazing farmyard cake and cupcakes. Her attention to detail is beyond amazing and I was unbelievably rapt with her creativity and skill!

The kids had a great day and I had a lot of fun putting the party together. It was almost a year ago, and I think you will be excited to see how my party styling has changed since then. We recently celebrated my youngest son Lucas' first birthday and I can't wait to share some photos soon!
